IF EDUCATION WAS VALUED AS MUCH AS SPORTS TODAY WE’D HAVE A MUCH BETTER SOCIETY.

In today’s world it seems sports drive most folk’s attention especially in Kansas
City. Sports are a good way for people, especially young people to learn about the
team participation. Baseball, football, soccer and basketball, all team sports,
teach the importance of relying on others and succeeding as a group instead of an
individual. The success of the Chiefs and the Royals in the past along with Sporting
KC and the new KC Current has made Kansas City a true mecca for sports in the
United States but there’s one BIG PROBLEM.
The success of sports seems to have contributed to the decline in education. If the
folks in Kansas City put as much emphasis on education as they do on sports
Kansas City crime and murder rate would not be where they are. Educational
budgets for the debate team, ROTC, drama, science clubs, art departments and
vocational and technical departments have been slashed.
WHAT ARE WE THINKING?
Sports should be the byproduct of a great education, not the driving force.
We need to refocus our emphasis on EDUCATION, EDUCATION, and EDUCATION!
Let build young leaders for the future with education and if they also want to play
sports that’s a choice they can make also.
